Best Lawyers

Lawyers get bad press, known as hangers-on and leeches for the person on the street who may have been charged what he/she thinks is an exorbitant fee simply for getting divorced. There are different legal systems around the world, but the lawyers who earn the most are the ones who work for the tobacco industry in the US. They are definitely paid a lot of money to keep cases out of court, and the ones who work this way manner are generally not liked by the general public.

In Britain the situation is different and the British are not (yet) as litigious as their American counterparts who seem to sue at the drop of a hat. In Britain the best solicitors are barristers and sedas, particularly those who specialize in tax law. Of course, there are high-profile lawyers who specialize in helping their clients keep their cash in celebrity divorce cases (like Paul McCartney’s well-publicized divorce from Heather Mills).

In both Britain and the US, the top earning lawyers are those working in the major cities, London in the UK and New York and the District of Columbia in the US A partner in a major law firm in either country in the main centers may receive a higher salary than other lawyers working in the back streets or in other cities.

The best lawyers in Britain can expect to earn salaries in excess of £1 million per year, and in the United States, the best lawyers who earn a share of their court winnings can earn much higher figures.

In Britain, solicitors generally earn a share of a private law firm’s total annual profits, with senior partners earning a higher percentage than less experienced partners. Of course, in both countries a young lawyer just starting his career cannot expect to earn the same salary as one with years of experience. In the United States, a lawyer working for the state will have a steady job and income, but will not make as much as their counterparts working for major private firms.

People pay a lawyer based on their experience and track record, so the better a lawyer is at winning cases, the more money they can ask for and receive. That means that successful lawyers will always be in demand and can ask for practically any amount they want, since the client who wants to win a case will pay the asking price.
