Camping with kids: 4 things to pack for a smooth, hassle-free trip

The outdoors is great for anyone, regardless of age. Children especially will benefit from spending time in nature because it is always a learning experience. But let’s face it: It’s not that easy to go camping with young children, especially when they start to get bored or cranky.

As parents, it’s our job to keep them safe and entertained throughout their journey. To make it easier on you, pack these 4 things for a hassle-free camping trip with the kids:

A bin with children’s essentials.

If you’re a parent, you know that packing for kids is hard work because there’s so much to carry. In addition to his clothes, you will have to think about snacks, toys, entertainment, etc. To make it easier to find your things at camp, put all your essentials in a separate container.

Inside the bin, organize essentials into smaller bins to keep things accessible. A container should contain first aid items such as bug spray, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, Band-Aids, etc. Another might contain entertainment items like some coloring books and small toys. The key is to keep everything organized so you don’t waste time rummaging through boxes looking for something.

Your own water bottles.

When you’re outdoors, it’s easy to lose track of your kids’ water intake. They would probably spend busy days exploring, swimming, walking or running, and it is very important that they stay hydrated throughout the day.

Fill their water bottles every morning, and if they don’t empty at a certain time of day, make sure they rest and hydrate.

your favorite snacks

Admit it: Most kids are picky eaters. While most kids would enjoy a campfire s’more, kids tend to stick with what’s familiar. Avoid tantrums by bringing them their favorite snacks and drinks from home. But also be sure to let them taste the food made over a campfire!

bedtime essentials

As mentioned, children tend to become attached to what is familiar to them. To help them feel more comfortable sleeping in a tent, be sure to pack their favorite pillow, blanket, or toy to sleep with. It’s important that they feel warm and comfortable in their sleeping bags, so tuck them in or read them a bedtime story to help them fall asleep faster, just like at home.

When camping with kids, be sure to pack these important things for a smooth, hassle-free trip!
