Fertility and thin women: what are the problems? Is it better to be overweight or underweight?

Does being overweight or underweight affect fertility? SURELY!

For hundreds of years, fertility in women has been represented by a prominent and ample stomach and mons pubis, as well as full breasts. However, many women today are pressured by society to maintain slim, sexy bodies that are defined by the seductive curves of models and celebrities. In many cases, this compromises your ability to get pregnant later on.

Contrary to common belief, it’s not just being overweight that can affect a woman’s fertility. Both being underweight and being overweight create negative impacts on fertility. Weight level is believed to affect the level of production of hormones in the body that regulate pregnancy and ovulation, such as progesterone and estrogen.

Being underweight means that a woman’s body mass index (BMI) does not reach the normal BMI level, which is between 18.5 and 24.9. On the other hand, people are considered overweight if their body mass index exceeds the upper limit. If a person’s body mass index exceeds 30, they are considered obese. As research shows, obese people are less likely to conceive.

Statistics revealed that underweight pregnant women are five times more likely to have underweight babies later on. Also, by not being underweight, women increase their chances of having healthy babies five times. In one study, it was found that 75% of underweight women who decided to gain some weight actually thought.

According to research, fertility problems are more likely to occur in slim women compared to fat women. Some thin women are not menstruating. Some are having periods but are not ovulating. Some women are menstruating and ovulating, but have trouble conceiving. In some cases, women menstruate, ovulate and conceive, but may soon experience difficulty in carrying their pregnancy to term.

Underweight women often have irregular cycles. In cases of severe underweight, menstruation may stop completely. In some cases, it can even prevent ovulation. Aside from irregular cycles, underweight women are said to produce low levels of estrogen hormones that negatively affect fertility in women.

With irregular cycles, women are less likely to conceive. Research shows that irregular menstrual periods negatively affect the lining of the uterus, making it less able to support a fetus. Even if conception does occur, underweight women are more likely to have a miscarriage due to the inability of the uterus to create a suitable and ideal place for the fetus to grow. The fertilized egg usually requires a thick uterine lining to support the growth of the fetus.

Recent research shows that reproductive technology and the availability of reproductive drugs can help women conceive; however, this technology is less likely to address issues with thin and insufficient uterine lining. In some cases, it can only cause miscarriage because the uterus is less able to support the growth and development of the fetus.

Following a healthy diet to improve weight level is important to increase a woman’s chance of getting pregnant. By maintaining a healthy weight level, you significantly reduce the risk of preterm birth and low birth weight. By maintaining a healthy body size and weight, you give your baby the chance for the best health.

It is believed that women must reach certain critical weight levels to become pregnant. A sufficient amount of fat in the body can trigger menarche, which can indicate that the body is ready for pregnancy. The amount of fat in the body is one of the most crucial factors that determine the body’s ability to support the growth of the fetus.

On the other hand, being overweight affects ovulation which, in turn, can also affect fertility. Most of the time, overweight women have extra fatty tissues that can lead to excessive estrogen production. An increased production of estrogen can trigger a hormonal imbalance that can negatively affect the ovulation process.

Overweight women have high levels of fat cells that produce estrogen, which triggers the pituitary gland to prevent the production of follicle-stimulating hormones (FSH). These hormones are responsible for ovulation to take place. Furthermore, excess weight level is associated with conditions such as insulin resistance and polycystic ovary syndrome that can cause future fertility problems.
