KBC – Who did it best?

Two of the biggest that ever lived! While one has been the Shehansha For more than forty years, the other has become the Badshah in less than just twenty years. Amitabh and Shahrukh. These two are arguably the biggest superstars in Indian cinema. Both have been widely praised by critics over the years. While Big B is called the star of the millennium, SRK has been nicknamed King Khan, the King of Bollywood. Both have received prestigious recognitions inside and outside the country. They have both received numerous best actor awards and both have their statues in the Madame Tussauds wax museum, an honor received by only a handful of Indians.

These two have been a major part of the gossip and controversy. And at one point it was even rumored that they had a cold war state between them. They have been observed to have almost similar careers. SRK built a bigger fan nation in much less time; that’s a completely different story.

We all know the popular game show, an Indian adaptation of the British show. Who wants to be a millionaire, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). Currently, Big B has returned as the host of KBC for its fourth season, this being the third time that he has hosted the show. While most people are more than happy to welcome Big B onto their television screens once again, the rest are missing SRK. A question always comes up, who organized the show better, BIG B or SRK? SRK hosted the third season of KBC. It opened with an impressive 6 TVR rating, the best KBC it has ever achieved in a first episode of a season, and averaged 5 TVR. KBC 1 had a maximum rating of 22 TVR, while KBC 2 lowered it to 12 TVR which was only interrupted because the host got sick.

While both have been considered good hosts, KBC 3 was not commercially successful, at least not in the way that KBC 1 was. This happened due to the ongoing cricket tournaments at the time with the Indian matches coinciding with the hours are 9-10. And we all know how good cricket is considered in India. Although KBC 3 was unsuccessful, SRK’s ability to host should not be discounted. IMHO SRK was more fun to watch. He was fun and entertaining, gave warm hugs and helped the contestants with his tears. The fact that it wasn’t a 70-year-old man who got sick in the middle of a season was worth it. This helped him build a more friendly relationship with his contestants. The reason many prefer Big B despite these things is simply that Big B appeared in the first two seasons and people have gotten used to seeing him as the host.

Now that Big B is back on KBC for its fourth season, it is still running out of an audience. In fact, they are lower than ever. He manages to beat Sallu’s Big Boss but lacks some strength. Mr. Bachchan is not to blame for this mishap. This happens because KBC is on a different network, Sony. And as much as I hate to say it, the audience has lost interest in this show.

So who did it better?
