How to stop prank calls?

Years ago it was the ancestor of the prank call: the prank ring. A boy rang the bell and ran away. It was child’s play with almost no consequences.

Today technologies have evolved. When was the last time the doorbell rang with no one behind the door? I’ve been sure a long time ago. But when did you get a prank call on your home phone line or on your cell phone line? It is very easy to make prank calls. There are more and more. Often times, it is difficult to know the real risk when you receive a prank call. You never know if it’s a prank made by a bored teenager or a crazy person potentially dangerous to you and your family.

So the best thing you can do is take action and show the joker that you will not tolerate his behavior. The way to react is to run a reverse phone number lookup to identify the caller. Obviously, you need the phone number of the caller. You get it by looking at the call screen on your phone. If you cannot access the number because it is listed as a “confidential number” or “private number”, you can ask your telephone service provider for help by providing the date and time of the prank call.

Once you have the number, you need to run a reverse phone lookup on it. It’s the easy part. You can try to use any free service available on the net, but you will probably not get any results because the unlisted phone number of the landline and cell phone line are private data. You must use a service provided by a private company that has access to such data. So you’ll end up paying a reasonable fee to do a reverse phone number lookup – it’s as easy as typing in a ten-digit number. In return, you will quickly receive the name and address of the caller along with various information about the home.

You can then call the prankster, tell him that you know his name, address, and ask him to stop harassing you. Once discovered, it will normally stop calling. Otherwise, you can give all the information to the police and make an official report.
