Microheat wins World Traffic Safety Achievement award

Microheat, Inc., a leading supplier to the automotive industry, won the World Traffic Safety Achievement Award in the supplier category this year. Microheat is the manufacturer of the popular and patented hot fluid windshield defrosting system.

Gary Pilibosian, President and CEO of Microheat, received the award at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). The Global Symposium on Road Safety, founded in 1990, was formed to respond to growing concern about road traffic injuries and deaths. The Symposium is dedicated to delivering vital information to automakers, public and private organizations, and the media, and discussing innovative ways to make car travel safer.

Annually, the group collects research and data from around the world to create a presentation of the most remarkable and innovative advancements in road safety. At the symposium, industry experts, manufacturers and journalists are invited to grace the showcase of the most advanced life-saving safety features ever made available in vehicles.

According to the Insurance Information Institute, poor visibility is one of the leading causes of traffic accidents and deaths in the United States. It is a factor that contributed to approximately 1,500 deaths in 2005. This is why the introduction of HotShot® in the industry is considered a major milestone.

HotShot®, commercially introduced in 2002, is a key advancement in windshield cleaning technology, solving a problem that has puzzled the automotive industry for 75 years: removing ice, snow, dirt and grime from windshields. without the usual manual scraping.

HotShot® is currently integrated into a variety of General Motors Corp. product lines, including Avalanche, Buick Lucerne, Chevrolet Silverado, Cadillac DTS and Escalade, GMC Sierra, Suburban Tahoe, and Yukon. Additionally, several other trusted OEMs including brakes, suspensions, radiators, and engines around the world are in various stages of product compatibility testing.

The HotShot® features proprietary cycling technology that intelligently heats fluid to a precise temperature and sprays the fluid at precise time intervals to quickly and skillfully remove snow, bugs, ice, dirt and grime from the road from the windshields. The product’s all-season and all-weather system can be activated when the vehicle is started and keeps the fluid warm for drivers to use while driving.
