Aion Online Races, Classes, and Subclasses Overview – The Tower of Eternity

races

There are two playable races in Aion: The Tower of Eternity. These are the Elyos and the Asmodians if you haven’t seen them yet.

The Elyos live on Elysium, the lower half of Atreia. After the Epic Cataclysm, they ended up on the surface exposed to copious amounts of sunlight. During the 750 years that have passed, their bodies have been transformed into a marvel of beauty. This result has caused the Elyos to become arrogant and believe that Aion blesses them, while the Asmodians are cursed in darkness. Their main traits consist of being friendly and comforting to each other. Once Daeva, the Elyos are blessed with angelic wings.

Asmodians live in the cold and dark regions of the world, hidden from the light of the sun. After 750 years, their bodies have been significantly transformed. Their fingernails and toenails have turned into claws, their skin has lost the color of flesh, and a small mane has grown on their backs to warm them in their desolate surroundings. Unlike the Elyos, they do not feel blessed and aware of their overwhelming history. However, when the opportunity presents itself, Asmodians will not hesitate to show their loyalty and pride in their own kind. Once Daeva, the Asmodians are wounded with black wings.

Classes

Once you’ve chosen your major, the next step is to decide your class. There are four main classes in Aion and then each class has two subclasses (to be discussed later). The four main classes in Aion are the Warrior, the Ranger, the Priest, and the Mage. Each will be broken down below:

Warrior: Warriors can wear up to chain mail from levels 1 to 10 and then up to plate armor. This grants them the most physical defense in the game. Warriors use polearms, greatswords, swords, and maces as their primary weapons. They can also use shields. Of the four classes, the Warriors are the only class meant for tanking. Throughout leveling, no matter which subclass you choose, warriors learn the most damage mitigation skills. In addition to his physical defense, this makes it a no-brainer as to which class he should be tanking. Next, I’ll go over both subclasses for the Warrior, as they’re not both for just tanking.

Explorer: Scouts can wear leather armor and use swords, daggers, and bows as primary weapons. Rangers, unlike warriors (excluding stigmata), can wield two weapons. Scouts are also incredibly evasive, which gives them some tanking capabilities, but not much, as their mitigation is so poor. Regardless of which subclass you choose, Scouts are meant to deal damage without being the focus of their target’s hate. Most of a Scout’s abilities are based on stealth DPS and long range DPS.

priest: Priests can wear up to level 1-10 leather armor and then up to chain armor. They use maces and staves as their primary weapons. They are also the only other class besides Warriors that can use a shield. This gives them the ability to be the second best tank class in the game, but I would hardly call them tanks. His armor and shield are more for survival as Priests are the only class capable of healing and that paints a huge bullseye on his chest. As such, Priests are one of the most useful classes in the game, with most scenarios requiring a healer. Priest subclasses are mainly to tip the scales towards healing or damage.

magician: Wizards can only wear cloth armor and use spell books and orbs as their primary weapons. Mages are the most fragile class in the game, but they can deal the most burst damage by a long shot. When going all out, mages can sometimes just shoot another player if they get lucky hits. It is for this reason that they are so fragile. Mages gain crowd control abilities, a root ability to get away from opponents, and a trap ability to keep their distance, but once someone catches up with them, they’re in trouble.

Now that you’ve been introduced to Aion’s four main classes, I’ll now cover the subclasses of each class. Subclasses can be chosen at level 9 after completing your Ascension quest. Upon reaching level 9, you are automatically assigned the Ascension quest. The quest usually takes less than 10 minutes to complete and will give you up to 99.9% of your experience for the level, maxing out your experience bar. Upon reaching level 9, immediately begin your Ascension quest and do not take any actions to gain experience otherwise.

subclasses

Once you complete your Ascension quest, you will simply be asked which subclass to choose. The following are the subclasses of Aion:

Warrior

Gladiator: Gladiators are the DPS side of the Warrior class. Gladiators use polearms or broadswords as their primary weapon (they can also dual-wield through the use of a stigma) and are masters of close range melee through sheer force. Most of his abilities are for dealing large amounts of melee damage and stunning his opponent. However, their ability to wear plate armor grants them a high amount of physical defense. This, combined with the fact that two-handed weapons have a high amount of parries, allows them to be adequately tanky despite not using a shield. Can gladiators tank raid content or tough names? No, not likely. Can gladiators tank in 75% of tanking situations? Definitely. Gladiators can sustain a lot of threat through their damage, but have the ability to taunt from level 10. Personally, I play a gladiator and combined with the fact that I play alongside a cleric, we’re almost unstoppable at most. of the scenarios.

templar: Templars are the pure tanks of the Warrior class and the entire game for that matter. Templars use swords or maces as their primary weapon and a shield to go with them. They are masters at threat creation and mitigation. There’s not much to say about the class other than what I’ve already said, but I will say that if your goal for your character is to tank in all situations and be able to handle incoming damage better, then Templar is for you.

Explorer

Killer: Assassins are the masters of stealthy DPS. They are just as they sound. The main weapons of the Assassins are daggers and swords. Most of his abilities revolve around stealth, applying poisons to his weapons, and disabling his opponent through stuns. If an Assassin catches the eye of an opponent, they are the most evasive class in the game, making them incredibly difficult to hit with most abilities. Assassins are also the best at analyzing high DPS for a while, which makes them attractive to a lot of people. If you like to play rogues or assassins in other games, you like stealth, and you like to deal damage, then an Assassin is what you’re looking for.

Forest ranger: Rangers are the long-range masters of physical damage. Their primary weapon is a bow, though they use swords and daggers for close combat. Rangers, unlike most other games, is completely reliant on keeping your opponent at long range. They use traps and cheat abilities to do so. When playing a solo Ranger, the main way to kill each mob is through kites. Unlike in WoW, where hunters had pets, rangers didn’t. Rangers, however, are adept with the bow and can deal massive amounts of damage. If you like kitesurfing, shooting arrows from a distance, and using a lot of tactics to take down your opponent, then the Ranger class will be nice for you.

priest

Sing: Chanters are the DPS version of the Priest class. The actual difference between chanters and clerics isn’t significant, but enough that some people choose one over the other. Chanters use staves as their primary weapon, but can also wield a mace and shield, and have the most enhancement abilities of any class. They are built for two-handed melee, but can still heal effectively. As they progress, their stats shift more towards defense, survivability, and HP. Much like the Gladiator’s tank abilities, chanters can heal most situations in the game. However, when it comes to difficult areas or raids, they just can’t handle it. If you want to play a healing class on Aion but don’t want to get stuck as a low damage class, then Chanter would be a perfect choice.

Cleric: Clerics, quite simply, are the main healing class in the game. They have the best and most versatility when it comes to healing abilities and are sought after by most groups. They use a mace as their main weapon and a shield in their left hand. This gives them great survivability when their heal draws too much attention. Clerics are also given roots and short duration stuns to temporarily create distance between their opponents. If you want to play the best healer in the game, play a cleric.

magician

Magician: Sorcerers are built for DPS. His primary weapon is either a spell book or an orb. Warlocks are long-range magic damage dealers, and they can do it with rage. As a wizard reaches higher levels, he has tremendous damage dealing abilities. Warlocks also have many crowd control abilities in their possession. However, they are incredibly vulnerable and have very low amounts of HP. They have absorb shield buffs that absorb a large amount of damage before it dissipates, but have little to no physical defense (excluding Plate Stigma). If wizards can keep their distance between their opponents, they are deadly. If they can’t, they’re dead. If you like having an arsenal of nukes and dealing high explosive damage, then the Sorcerer will be your class of choice.

Master Spirit: Spiritmasters are the pet class in the game. They are the only class capable of having a pet. Spiritmasters primarily use a spellbook or orb as their weapon. As the only pet class, they rely on their pets to help them defeat their opponents. Spiritmasters use 4 main pets whose abilities vary. The key to using pets is to figure out the situation and quickly decide which pet would work best. Aside from having pets, a Spiritmaster is very similar to a wizard. The differences are that they also rely on using DoT, while Sorcerers rely more on simply taking down their opponent and kiting. Spiritmasters have the advantage over Sorcerers when it comes to soloing. If you want to be a nuke class but want more in your arsenal than just high powered nukes, then a Spiritmaster would probably be a better fit.
