Why detox?

Have you heard of detox more often?
That is because we are now recognizing and appreciating
that our bodies are not just separate parts, but a
connected system that must be in “balance” if we want
feel and be good.

So what is detox?

Well, it is an internal cleaning of toxins, of our organism.
These are toxins that we produce, ingest or absorb.
Our bodies produce toxins as it goes about its daily routine.
working and when our system works properly, these toxins
it will be removed efficiently. But very few of us have systems that are so well balanced.
We are not eating properly, getting enough rest, or exercising.
So our bodies don’t work as well as they should.

We absorb toxins from the air as we breathe in air pollutants.
chemical products

Normally the body can neutralize and eliminate them.
But as the levels of these toxins rise higher and higher, our
the bodies become overwhelmed and can no longer keep up.

That’s why we detox!

Detoxification is a process and can be a gentle cleanse or
a more rigorous therapy, where many foods are completely
avoided for a long period of time.

The detox program you would choose would depend on the
mostly on the condition of your disposal system and your
overall health.

You should get the advice and support of a doctor or naturopath.
Most of us know when we need to detox, even if we don’t put
a name for it.
We just don’t feel “ourselves”!
We feel confused, without concentration, tired, slow, blocked,
overall feeling of decay.

One of the reasons I recommend getting the support
from a health professional is that he can rule out one more
serious cause of these feelings, and then better control the process and its progress.

A detox diet is usually very simple and consists of
whole foods, fruits, vegetables, grains, lots of water and
lean meats (without organs or cured).
Salt and sugar are normally not allowed.
Not a starvation diet, but a way to rest and rebalance
your system.

Surprisingly, this is not the difficulty I thought it would be.
be, when I did my first detox this year in March.
When they explained the program to me, all I could think of
was, “how am I going to live without salt and without sugar for a month”?
Well amazingly not only did I survive but now I almost never add
sugar or salt to my meals!
