The key to all successful endeavors is, of course, organization.
Whether you have your own business, are involved in affiliates
programs, publish your own ezine, etc., if you are not organized
you are fighting an uphill battle that is ultimately impossible to win.
BUT WHERE TO BEGIN?
I’d like to take a moment to explain the Inbox Organization.
I’m going to refer to Outlook Express, but any inbox will do.
My online business is electronic advertising. I take care of everything incoming
ordering by hand, and I prefer it that way. If my inbox is not
organized, I’m in a world of pain! I have to be able to fill
current orders, keep track of pending orders, and even drill down
several weeks or months if the need arises.
My method Folders Don’t complain * smile! * No one said this
it was going to be rocket science. But, without those folders,
you’ve gotten yourself into a real mess.
Your folders, of course, would be labeled appropriately for
the company (s) you are tracking online. In my case I have
Orders received and processed with subfolders for each month.
Within those subfolders are folders for the advertisements themselves.
and any correspondence. Incoming invoices are filed by TYPE
(Clickbank or PayPal) and also by MONTH. I provide numerous
services: two types of ezine advertising, two types of solo advertising
advertising, banner ads, meta services (thankfully this is a redirect),
Guaranteed hits and other specials as they come and go. Also,
Publisher benefits in My Wizard Ads include exchanges and
Ads, to name just a few. Without an organized inbox,
My business would collapse in two seconds!
OBJECTIVE DOES NOT STOP HERE
I also make good use of the SORT incoming mail function
integrated into Outlook Express. In TOOLS, MAIL MESSAGES,
MAIL I have created more than 100 different PRESENTED messages
for me. As mail arrives, it’s not all in one block in the inbox
requiring you to sort by hand: I let Outlook Express do
work for me. You can order using a wide variety of options.
Play with it and reduce YOUR workload by 90%!
JUST DON’T FORGET
Now, I must admit that I need to go one step further. I
Relying too much on Outlook Express and my computer.
in general. Although tedious, it is imperative that you also
copy and paste into a BACKUP folder on your hard drive,
following this with the necessary floppy backups
periodically. Printing things is also a good idea.
Paper is not extinct yet, people, save the trees, but be smart.
do not lose important business information due to lack of
Print.
It doesn’t really matter WHAT your business is … if you
cannot locate information quickly and efficiently
they are wasting valuable time that they could spend promoting,
networking and earn money!
Get organized! It is the main KEY to your success 🙂
