If Samuel Bawlf has his way, it could turn out that the best-kept secret of the 16th century (and since then) is that the legendary sea lion, Sir Francis Drake, discovered Vancouver Island, the Strait of Georgia, and points north. to Alaska.
Bawlf, a former British Columbia government minister and a geographer by training, expounds his theory in The Secret Voyage of Sir Francis Drake, 1577-1580.
